A long trip to Harrogate proved worthwhile for Ocean Harmony as a reduced chorus of a dozen singers punched well above its weight with a top performance.

OH’s two songs may not have put it among the leading choruses from the UK - some of them around 60-strong or more - but the smaller line-up did finish five places higher than the previous year and attracted some high praise.

“For me so many things came together to make it one of the best conventions I have attended,” said experienced Ocean Harmony baritone Bill Smith.

Ocean Harmony was one of the final choirs to perform at the competition which attracted 34 entries and was staged over a long day at the town's huge Conference Centre.

OH singers had spent several months and many hours honing their rendition of Frank Sinatra’s ‘Come Fly With Me’ and 1950s classic ‘If I Give My Heart to You’.

Brighton has already been announced as the venue for Sing2027 and new singers are welcome to join us.

Rehearsals are at Colbury Memorial Hall, Ashurst on Wednesday evenings, 7.30pm.
